Advantages of Photovoltaic Systems
- The savings on your electric bill will pay for the cost
of a loan payment to finance the system. You can have a positive cash flow the first year.
- The California Solar Initiative provides lump sum incentive payments of about 15% to 20% of the system cost depending on location.
- PV is strongly supported by the State government in the California Solar Initiative (CSI) as part of the GO-Solar California Campaign. California is committed to install 3,000 megawatts of new grid connected solar over the next decade. There are currently only about 181 megawatts installed or pending under this
program.
- PV is strongly supported by the Federal government now offering a full unlimited 30% tax credit on the full cost of a PV system now through 2016. These credits can be carried over
indefinitely.
- All local utility companies now have net metering which allows the excess power generated by a PV system to run onto the grid as the electric meter runs backwards. The meter tallies the excess power as kilowatt credits for later use by the owner of the system. A system can generate maximum power in the summer for later use in the winter.
- PV has a 50 year proven and reliable history of use in the space program since it is used to power all the satellite systems.
- Sunshine is available everywhere at no cost. FREE FUEL.
- PV is extremely reliable, low maintenance with no moving parts, and silent with no emissions compared to other electric generators.
